David Reynolds Secures 2026 Supercars Seat with Team 18

David Reynolds isnt done tearing up the track just yet. Team 18 dropped the news Tuesday that theyre keeping the 2017 Bathurst champ for another year, silencing months of chatter about where the veteran would land. At 40, Reynolds was sweating it out, wondering if the squad would pick up his option or cut him loose.

Now only six spots remain up for grabs in next seasons Supercars chaos. PremiAir Racing has two vacancies, while Matt Stone Racing, Brad Jones Racing, Erebus Motorsport, and Blanchard Racing Team each have one up their sleeves.

Reynolds jumped ship to Team 18 last year after leaving Penrite Racing. Sitting 18th in the standings ahead of this weekends Bathurst showdown, his renewal locks in an unchanged duo for the teams debut as GMs factory squad, with Anton De Pasquale already secured long-term.

Never one to miss a beat, the announcement came with a cheeky nod to Anchormans Ron Burgundy. Reynolds joked he was “extremely beside himself” to stick around, praising the teams hustle and upward swing.

This teams been going from strength to strength since I joined, Reynolds said. Its great to have this sorted before the biggest race of the year. Now I can just focus on what I lovedriving my car fast.

Team owner Charlie Schwerkolt praised Reynolds for his performance and leadership within the garage. Hes been a fantastic addition, not just for his speed but also for the energy and experience he brings, Schwerkolt said.
