Viva Las Champions: Las Vegas Aces Hit The Jackpot With 4-0 Finals Sweep

Aces in 4!

What started out as a prediction, a bet, or a dream has ended in reality! The Las Vegas Aces swept the WNBA Finals against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night in Phoenix, further cementing their dynasty in league history.

With dominant performances on both ends of the court, the Aces left no doubt about their reign at the top, closing out the series on the road in just four games!

The Aces capped off their stellar season with a commanding sweep of the Mercury, clinching Game 4 of the 2025 WNBA Finals with a 97-86 victory, securing their third World Championship in four years!

It was a season for the books! Star player A’ja Wilson claimed her second Finals M’VP award, making history (yet again) as the first player ever to win M’VP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals M’VP award in the same season.

Wilson delivered a dominant performance in Game 4 with 31 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Supporting Wilson’s standout game, Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young each added 18 points, Jewell Loyd scored 12 points, and Dana Evans had 10 points.

A video shared on Instagram by B/R W Sports shows an emotional moment with coach Becky Hammon and three players – Wilson, Gray, and Young.

“I love being their coach. I love being their friend. I love being a phone call for them,” Hammon said through tears. “I love pushing them, probably sometimes to their disliking a little bit but I’m invested in their greatness and getting that out of them every day. I know I’ve shared tears with all of them along this journey, especially this year, and this one hits different because it was different. There was probably a lot more adversity than any of us anticipated and at the end of the day we’re all human but we’re humans that wanted to get it right and get it right together.”

She said that they are “stuck” with her “wherever they go,” and she “believes in who they are” and “admires who they are.”

“But the buckle down factor that they had on the basketball court, but you want to take them to dinner, you want to hang out, they’re just really quality people with a really great support system around them and I’m happy to be part of that in their journeys,” she continued. “Like I said, this group, especially, they know the backstories of a lot of stuff that we’ll probably never talk about, things that have happened, and these are the ones that stuck.”

Fans dropped into the comment section to keep the positivity party going strong.

“They lost by 53 points and turned that into a ring,” one fan wrote. Another added, “The love between Becky & her players I can feel it.” One other fan wrote, “LEGENDARY!!! A’Ja Wilson & this A’mazing Team – A’Mazing season will be talked about forever in basketball history.”

Las Vegas Aces standouts Wilson and Young were named 2025 All-WNBA selections, the league announced on Friday.

Wilson continued to etch her name into the record books this season, becoming a four-time WNBA MVP and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. She earned All-WNBA honors for the sixth time in her career, while Young collected the accolade for the third time.

Wilsons All-WNBA résumé includes First Team selections in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024, along with a Second Team nod in 2021. Young earned First Team honors in 2022 and Second Team recognition in 2023.

Both stars were instrumental in the Aces late-season surge. After battling for a playoff spot midway through the year, Las Vegas caught fire, closing the regular season on a 16-game winning streak to lock up the No. 2 postseason seed. Over the teams 193 run in the second half of the season, Wilson averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.2 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game, while Young added 16.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

The 2025 All-WNBA First Team: Wilson (Aces), Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever), and Alyssa Thomas (Phoenix Mercury).

The 2025 All-WNBA Second Team: Young (Aces), Aliyah Boston (Indiana Fever), Paige Bueckers (Dallas Wings), Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty), and Nneka Ogwumike (Seattle Storm).
