UFC Vegas 111 results: Gabriel Bonfim vows to retire Colby Covington after brutal KO of Randy Brown

Gabriel Bonfim made his case to move further up the UFC welterweight ranks with a brutal knee knockout of Randy Brown on Saturday.

Entering UFC Vegas 111 with a 5-1 promotional record, Bonfim notched another win with a sound game plan calf kicks at distance, then a knee to the jaw when it’s ready. It worked against Brown, who moved into the clinch in the second round and promptly paid for it.

It was Bonfim’s first victory by knockout in his past nine fights, a streak going back to 2021.

Brown had some strong objections over the stoppage by referee Mark Smith, but he appeared to lose consciousness on the knee and seemed pretty helpless by the time Bonfim was back on his feet.

Bonfim already has his next opponent in mind: Three-time UFC title challenger Colby Covington.

“We knew that the calf was something, we knew we needed to punish it and then the knee would show up,” Bonfim said post-fight. “Colby, stop running away, stop running away. Give me the chance to take you out of the ranking right now.

“I’m going to retire him.”

Three fights earlier on the night, Bonfim’s older brother Ismael suffered a TKO loss on the mat from the undefeated Chris Padilla after missing weight. All five fights on the main card ended with a finish.
