UFC 320: Alex Pereira calls for moment of silence for Jon Jones' brother Arthur after sudden death

After winning back his UFC light heavyweight belt from Magomed Ankalaev, Alex Pereira’s mind was on a different light heavyweight champion.

The three-time title-holder used his post-fight interview to call for a moment of silence in honor of Arthur Jones, the older brother of UFC legend Jon Jones who died suddenly earlier this week.

The crowd at T-Mobile Arena obliged.

Jon appreciated the gesture.

The elder Jones died Friday morning, and the circumstances around his death remain unclear, though Syracuse.com reported Saturday that rescue crews were called to his home after his defibrillator went off and no one answered the phone.

Arthur played in the NFL for seven years and is most remembered for his time with the Baltimore Ravens. He was a key member of the team’s defensive line during its Super Bowl XLVII win in the 2012-13 season, posting 47 tackles, five tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks from the interior line.

In addition to a Super Bowl champion and legendary UFC champion, the Jones family features another Super Bowl champion in younger brother Chandler, who is also a four-time Pro Bowler from his time with the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals
