The transfer deadline may have passed across Europe’s top five leagues but there is still business to be done this summer. And, with only four months until the January window opens, the rumour mill keeps on turning! Transfer Talk brings you all the latest, and you can check out our list of all the major done deals.
Newcastle United could make a return for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi in January, reports the Telegraph.
Newcastle spent much of the summer trying to secure a deal for the England international, however, they were unable to convince Palace to part ways with the 24-year-old. Despite failing to land a deal for Guehi, the report reveals that a fresh effort to finalise a move for the defender could take place as soon as January.
However, it is reported that much of this depends on whether Crystal Palace will drop their asking price which was set at £70 million towards the latter stages of the summer transfer window.
Even though Palace’s asking price is currently too high for Newcastle, Guehi’s contract expires in 2026, leaving the south London outfit in a difficult situation.
If Palace do not facilitate Guehi’s exit in January or next summer, they risk losing the defender on a free transfer, unless they can convince him to extend his contract with the club. This pressure could see Palace drop their asking price.
– Newcastle United will require Adrien Rabiot to drop his salary demands to secure a move, reports Football Insider. The Frenchman is currently a free agent after seeing his contract with Juventus expire in the summer, and has reportedly attracted the attention of both Newcastle and Manchester United.
– Real Madrid are again showing an interest in AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, reports TeamTalk. The report reveals that the Spanish giants have asked for the conditions needed to secure a deal for the Frenchman, who sees his contract with Milan expire in 2026. It is reported that negotiations over a new deal for Maignan at the San Siro are progressing slowly, which opens the door for Madrid.
– Galatasaray are edging closer to securing a deal for AS Roma defender Nicola Zalewski, reports Nicolo Schira. The Poland international will be allowed to depart the Italian club, with the report indicating that he is close to finalising a deal worth 10m, with bonuses included. It is reported that Roma have given the green light to the move and Zalewski is closing in on securing a four-year deal with Galatasaray.
– Liverpool and Arsenal will need to stump up £40m to secure Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, reports Football Insider. Mbeumo is out of contract with Brentford in 2026, placing them under pressure to part ways with him next summer to ensure he does not leave on a free transfer the following year.
– Internazionale are attentive to the opportunity to secure deals for Lille forward Jonathan David and Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, reports Calciomercato. It is reported that with both players entering the final year of their contracts, Inter are monitoring their situation as they look to take advantage of the opportunity to secure the pair on free transfers, as they did when they secured Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zieliński this summer.
