NORMAL, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) The Rockford area got a split out of its two volleyball teams at the IHSA State Tournament in Normal Friday. The Stockton Blackhawks won their semifinal match in Class 1A. Rockford Christian lost its semifinal match in 2A.Rockford Christian was up against a very talented Columbia team from south of St. Louis. Columbia came into the match with a record of 37-1. Columbias only loss was to Breese Central in mid-September. Columbia took this match in two sets 25-18, 25-8.Rockford Christian will still play another game in Normal on Saturday. Its the 2A third place match against Port Byron Riverdale.Stockton made a comeback to take its semifinal match against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield. The Blackhawks dropped the first set 17-25, but they took the second set 25-23 and they rolled in the third set 25-13.Stockton will play in the 1A state championship match Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against Cissna Park.To see highlights of these two matches and to hear from some of the players and coaches, watch the media player above.
