Revealed: Why Barcelona think its possible to sign a top striker next summer

Barcelona continue to be linked with a host of top strikers ahead of next summers transfer window when Robert Lewandowski is expected to depart on a free transfer.

Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland and Serhou Guirassy are just some of the names to be mentioned, although there are plenty of doubts about whether Barca could afford to make a big-money buy.

According to Mundo Deportivo, there is confidence at Barca that they will be able to undertake a significant investment should they feel the need to next summer.

Lewandowski would certainly have to leave for that to be possible. The report details how his exit would free up 40 million in fair play funds. This space could then be used by Barça to sign a top center forward, taking into account his salary plus the amortization of his transfer fee each season.

Yet Barca would also need to be back within the 1:1 rule, so that those funds could be used on a new signing, and would also need to have made significant progress with the renovation of the Camp Nou.

MD report the projected revenue growth from having a full Camp Nou open again will also play a signficant role in Barcas summer transfer business. The project has been hit by delays and is already a year behind schedule.

The first team are expected back home after the international break in front of 45,000 fans, but the Camp Nou isnt currently expected to open at full 105,000 capacity until 2027 at the earliest.

Alvarez? Eyong? Guirassy? Who should Barca sign if they are able to afford a top striker next summer? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
