Red Wings Goalie Becoming Excellent Trade Target

Red Wings Goalie Becoming Excellent Trade Target

Stopping the puck is the name of the game.

Well, it’s the name of the game for goaltenders, and one Detroit Red Wings goaltender is doing that exceptionally well right now.

No, I’m not talking about Cam Talbot or Alex Lyon — I’m talking about Ville Husso.

Husso has traveled between Detroit and Grand Rapids a few times this season. Despite not playing many games in the AHL, he is proving to Red Wings management that he can still play his game.

Last night against the Iowa Wild, he stopped 19 of 21 shots to earn his fourth win of the season. He improved to a 4-0-0 record in five games played. Husso has only allowed seven goals, giving him a 1.58 goals against average (GAA) and a .944 save percentage (SV%).

This site is extremely welcomed for Red Wings fans, as the 29-year-old has shown well in his brief NHL appearances this season.

He played one game in early October and another in early November. Both games were losses, and his combined SV% was .811, and his combined GAA was 4.94.

If Husso’s game continues on this trajectory, he could either be a good call-up option in the event of an injury or become a great trade target. Both options would benefit the Red Wings.

Time will tell if he can work his way back to an NHL job or not.
