PSG overpower Madrid to set up Club World Cup final against Chelsea

Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain overpowered Real Madrid in a 4-0 victory on Wednesday in New York to set up a Club World Cup final against Chelsea.

Fabian Ruiz scored a brace, while Ousamane Dembele and Gonçalo Ramos were also on target as Madrid didn’t stand a chance against the French side.

PSG will now face Chelsea at the same MetLife stadium in New York on Sunday. The Blues defeated Brazilian side Fluminense 2-0 on Tuesday.

Ruiz broke the deadlock in the sixth minute after Raul Asencio was too slow to collect a pass in the box and allowed Dembele to take the ball.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois stopped Dembele from making a finish, but Fabian recovered the ball to find the net.

Dembele got one himself just three minutes later as he capitalized on a Antonio Rüdiger mistake to sprint goalwards and clinically find the bottom corner.

Ruiz netted his second after a lightning-fast counterattack in the 24th as PSG practically sealed the win still in the first half.

But there was still space for more. Bradley Barcola danced around the box with the ball on his feet to escape the marker before finding Ramos, who turned around and shot past Courtois in one movement to complete the score in the 87th.

It was a bitter way for club legend Luka Modric to end his Real Madrid career.

He came from the bench in the 64th minute to make his final game for the club he served for 13 years.
