Payton Pritchard likes what he sees from Jordan Walsh in recent Boston Celtics games

After suffering an injury in preseason play, backup Boston Celtics wing Jordan Walsh started the Celtics’ 2025-26 campaign glued to the bench while watching players joining the team via the draft and free agency leapfrog him in the playing time doled out by head coach Joe Mazzulla. But Walsh never hung his head, turned taciturn, or complained — and eventually earned an opportunity to play some meaningful minutes.

And so far, his maniacal defense has helped Boston win games, and his up-and-down offensive nights provide an additional boost when hitting. Teammate Payton Pritchard has taken note of the growth of the Arkansas alum, and said as much after Boston’s 131-95 blowout of the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday (Nov. 12) evening. “He’s been doing a great job defending, being really active, and then, one thing I keep stressing with him is just keep being a ball player,” said Pritchard.

“If youre open, shoot it with confidence and … dont forget what got you here,” added the West Linn native.

“Honestly, I just think he’s been more professional, and maturing — and now hes ready for the moment,” suggested Pritchard. “So, I’m just stressing to him, dont take it for granted, come hungry still every day and keep pushing.”

And given what we have been seeing from Walsh on the court in recent contests, it appears the Texan wing is taking that advice to heart.
