Michigan basketball has officially landed its newest crop of incoming talent.
The Wolverines signed the four freshman pledged to their incoming 2026 class this week, announcing on Friday, Nov. 14, the group has committed to playing for Dusty May in Ann Arbor next season.
The newcomers include four-star power forward Quinn Costello, four-star shooting guard Joseph Hartman, three-star small forward Malachi Brown and unranked center Marcus Moller, the lone international prospect of the group from Denmark.
“This class fits everything we value – versatility, intelligence and competitiveness,” said Michigan coach Dusty May in a release. “Each of them enjoys playing for their teammates, embraces coaching and wants to be part of something bigger than themselves. They all bring different strengths, but the common thread is their character and work ethic.
“They understand what it means to represent Michigan, and they’re ready to put in the daily effort to grow on and off the court. We’re excited about their potential and how they’ll elevate our culture. This group is the foundation of what we’re building for the future.”
As a group, the future Wolverines are rated the No. 11 crop in the class of 2026, per 247sports composite ranks.
Costello, a 6-foot-10, 195-pound stretch-four from Boston (Newman Academy) is the top rated player in Massachusetts, the No. 7 power forward in the country and a top-40 player overall. One of the best shooting bigs in the nation, Costello came off the bench helped Newman win the NEPSAC-AAA title.
This past summer, he emerged on the Under Armour Circuit, where he was named co-Most Outstanding Player honors at Pangos All-American Camp.
“Quinn is a floor general. He plays with great command and confidence, and his voice carries through the team,” May said in a release. “He’s a strong decision-maker who understands tempo, spacing and how to put teammates in successful positions. He combines toughness with feel. He’s not afraid to make the extra pass or take a big shot when it matters.”
Hartman, the next-highest rated player in the group, comes from Gainesville, Florida (The Rock School) and is a top-10 shooting guard in the country. He spent the 2025 summer season with Austin Rivers SE Elite, averaging 13.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in Adidas 3SSB play.
“Joseph brings versatility and motor,” May said. “He’s a big who runs the floor hard, rebounds outside his area, and embraces contact. He has a great touch and an instinct for positioning — both offensively and defensively. He’s continued to add strength and confidence in his perimeter game, and we see real potential for growth there.”
May called him a “connector” and expects him to be “a guy who earns respect the moment he steps on campus.”
Moller, an emerging international talent, stands a towering 7-foot-3, which is the same height as Aday Mara and will be tied as tallest player in program history. The Danish center plays in Spain for Unicaja Malaga U-22 and has previously been named Denmark’s junior national team captain.
“With his length and shooting touch, we believe he can contribute early while still having a high ceiling in our system,” May said.
Brown is a three-star prospect ranked among the top-10 players in Tennessee (Knoxville Catholic) and has emerged as a top-50 small forward nationally. He transferred from Roane County High School to Knoxville Catholic for his senior season.
Last year, Brown averaged 11.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.2 blocks while lifting Roane County to a 27-5 record.
“Malachi is a dynamic athlete who plays with explosiveness and edge,” May said. “He has the quickness and strength to pressure the ball defensively and get downhill on offense. His ability to guard multiple positions and finish through contact gives us a lot of lineup flexibility.”
