Mets have 4 prospects on MLB Pipeline’s new Top 100 list

The Mets’ farm system is continuing to ascend, with a handful of potentially impact prospects tantalizingly close to the majors.

And on MLB Pipeline’s updated Top 100 prospects list, New York is well-represented, with four players on there.

Those players are:

RHP Brandon Sproat: No. 40SS/OF Jett Williams: No. 57OF Drew Gilbert: No. 821B/OF Ryan Clifford: No. 83

Sproat has rocketed through the Mets’ system this year, and was recently promoted to Triple-A Syracuse. It’s possible the flamethrower makes his debut before the end of 2024, perhaps in a relief role.

As far as Williams and Gilbert, both have missed the majority of the season due to injuries. Williams is still out due to wrist surgery, and Gilbert recently returned from a serious hamstring injuries.

The power-hitting Clifford has had an ascendant season, reaching Double-A Binghamton. It’s possible he could make his major league debut in 2025, but 2026 could be more likely.

Here’s how the Mets ranked during MLB Pipeline’s prior update:Williams: No. 31Christian Scott: No. 39Gilbert: No. 40Clifford: No. 72Luisangel Acuña: No. 93Sproat: No. 98

Acuña falling off the updated list is not a surprise, as he’s had an underwhelming season for Syracuse.

As far as Scott, he has already thrown 47.1 big league innings between his two stints with the Mets this season, so his omission means MLB Pipeline clearly no longer considers him a prospect.
