On Sept. 2, 2025, Luana made her inspirational return to the pitch after battling Hodgkins lymphoma (SEI list since April of 2024).
In the quarterfinal match against the Seattle Reign, Orlando Pride midfielder Luana scored the first goal since the fight of her life to seal the victory into the semifinals.
Luana: One year ago, I didnt even know if I would be playing again and today Im here. Nothing is impossible.
After that comeback and return, her fight and determination have inspired an entire team, league, and the world.
Today, Luana has signed a new contract through the 2026 NWSL season with a mutual option for 2027.
Luana has been and will continue to be an integral part of our Club as we prepare for another championship run this year and beyond, said Haley Carter, Orlando Pride VP of Soccer Operations and Sporting Director. Her versatility, steady presence and leadership helps solidify our midfield in both the attack and defense. But more than that, Luanas resilience and strength this past year and a half has inspired us all. She embodies what it means to be a Pride player both on and off the pitch and her performance and character has earned her this new contract.
