Illinois improved to 4-0 on Friday night with a win over Colgate in a game aired on BTN+.
If you didnt watch the stream and you werent there in person you may have missed what Kylan Boswell was wearing on his feet.
According to multiple photos from WCIA sports reporters, Boswell wore custom kicks that featured Chief Illiniwek and the words Hometown Hero.
Boswell is a townie who grew up in Urbana and famously played for Urbana Middle School before finishing his high school career in Arizona (and starting his college career at Arizona).
But Boswell has never been shy about his roots and on Friday featured Chief Illiniweks face on his sneakers.
The university retired Chief Illiniwek in 2007 after the NCAA banned 19 schools with hostile or abusive mascots from postseason play if they did not stop featuring such mascots.
Boswell finished Fridays 84-65 win with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
