Parrish Community girls golf wins 3A state championship: The Parrish Community girls golf team shot a 603 over two rounds at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills from Tuesday to Wednesday to win the Class 3A state championship.
Parrish came from behind on the second day to win the state championship by two strokes over Lake Nona (605). The Bulls shot a 287 on the second day of the tournament, which was the lowest team score of the tournament by 14 strokes.
Parrish junior Avery Banfill tied for fourth individually with a 76-69 (3 over par) to lead the Bulls. Other contributors to the championship included junior Natalie Angelo, who tied for 13th with a 79-70, junior Phoenix Scanlan, who tied for 23rd with an 81-72, sophomore Olivia Agate, who tied for 35th with an 80-76, and senior Maya Krone, who tied for 66th with an 88-82.
Venice finishes 13th at 3A state championship: The Venice girls golf team placed 13th out of 16 teams at the 3A state championships.
The Indians shot a 656 over the 36-hole event and were led by sophomore Evyn Cannon, who shot a 79-73 to place 22nd individually. Other Venice contributors included junior Ella Gardner, who tied for 35th overall with an 80-76, junior Camryn Davis, who tied for 50th with an 86-76, sophomore Vanessa Rieger, who tied for 85th with a 95-93, and sophomore Aubree Decraene, who tied for 90th with a 93-99.
Lakewood Ranch finishes 14th at 3A state championship: The Lakewood Ranch girls golf team shot a 660 to place 14th out of 16 teams at the 3A state championship.
The Mustangs were led by sophomore Anne Yu, who tied for 13th individually with a 75-74. Other contributors included sophomore Willda Kuang, who tied for 50th with an 86-76, junior Emma Albert, who placed 89th with a 96-95, and freshman Maxima Hodge who placed 96th with a 115-103.
Palmetto’s Skye Foos places 10th individually: The Palmetto High girls golf team didn’t advance to the 3A state championship, but they were represented by Skye Foos, who tied for 10th individually.
Foos shot a 75-73 over the 36-hole tournament at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
Sarasota finishes 6th at 3A state championship: The Sarasota boys golf team placed 6th out of 16 teams at the 3A state championship from Tuesday to Wednesday at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
The Sailors shot a 615 in a competitive tournament, finishing just five strokes behind third-place Ponte Vedra. They were led by senior Jake MacDonald, who tied for 19th individually with a 76-76. Other contributors included senior Evan Booth, who tied for 24th with a 78-75, junior Jacob Menard, who tied for 29th with a with a 76-78, senior Jayden Potter, who tied for 44th with an 82-76, and freshman Jude Menard, who tied for 54th with an 80-82.
Lakewood Ranch finishes 12th at 3A state championship: The Lakewood Ranch boys golf team placed 12th out of 16 teams at the 3A state championship from Tuesday to Wednesday at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
The Mustangs shot a 651 and were led by senior Brock Blackwell, who tied for 41st with a 79-78. Other contributors included sophomore Alexander Makarewicz, who tied for 60th with an 81-82, junior Owen Gellatly, who tied for 67th with an 85-79, and junior Donovan Plakyda, who tied for 77th with an 87-80.
Braden River finishes 16th at regional meet: The Braden River girls cross country team placed 16th out of 16 teams at the Class 3A Region 3 meet on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The Pirates were led by senior Alex Hennes, who placed 79th individually out of the 114-runner field by running the 5K track in 24:42.6. Other contributors included freshman Camila Martinez, who ran the 5K race in 26:22.2 to place 96th, junior Sara Gamboa, who ran the 5K race in 26:54.3 to place 102nd, sophomore Caba Zorangie, who ran the 5K race in 29:52.2 to place 110th, junior Trinity Nguyen, who ran the 5K race in 30:41.4 to place 113th, and sophomore Angeli Eliassant, who ran the 5K race in 31:39.1 to place 114th.
