Former Northern Michigan forward Matvei Kabanov has transferred to Bowling Green State University.

The first reporter on the story was the Sentinel Tribune’s Ben Shanahan, who broke the news in late July.
Hailing from Togliatti, Russia, Kabanov spent this past season with the Wildcats. In 26 games, he scored four goals and added five assists for nine points.
Prior to coming to the U.S. last summer, Kabanov spent time playing junior hockey in the MHL with Ladia Togliatti and Amurskie Tigry Khabarovsk.
As Kabanov heads to Bowling Green, he still has three seasons of NCAA eligibility remaining. Having shown flashes of what he can do with the puck last season, Kabanov is an intriguing add for the Falcons.
