The Chicago Blackhawks have placed former New Jersey Devils forward Joey Anderson on waivers.
Anderson, 26, has played in 12 games this season with the Blackhawks, where he has one assist, nine blocks, and nine hits. He last appeared in a game on Nov. 23 when the Blackhawks faced off against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Devils selected Anderson as the 73rd overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The Roseville, Minnesota native appeared in 52 games over two seasons with the Devils, where he had eight goals, 13 points, and 58 hits.
Anderson’s time with the Devils ended when he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs before the start of the 2020-21 season in exchange for forward Andreas Johnsson.
Teams looking for more forward depth could consider taking a shot on Anderson. However, if he goes unclaimed on waivers, he will join the Blackhawks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
