Goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has joined Womens Super League (WSL) club Aston Villa following her departure from Barcelona.
The Spanish side announced on Monday that an agreement had been reached with Roebuck, 25, to end her contract a year early.
She now joins Villa where she has signed a two-year deal.
Director of womens football, Marisa Ewers said: We are delighted that Ellie will be joining our club. She is an exciting addition to the team and is a player with a lot of experience who can help drive our performance levels.
Roebuck previously enjoyed a successful spell in English football with Manchester City, winning the WSL title once and the FA Cup three times prior to moving to Spain in the summer of 2024.
Her Barca debut in December marked her first competitive appearance since recovering from a stroke. The goalkeeper announced in March 2024 that she had suffered a left occipital infarct but had avoided lasting damage to her brain function and vision.
Roebuck made one further appearance for Barcelona against Levante in February but did not feature again for the club.
Following her exit she wrote on Instagram: My time as a player for this incredible club has come to an end. Its hard to put into words just how special this past year has been, one of the most meaningful of my career, for lots of reasons.
Wearing this shirt, walking out at the Johan (Cruyff Arena), feeling the support of the fans its something Ill carry with me forever.
An 11-time England international, Roebuck was part of the squad that won the European Championship on home soil in 2022 and the group that reached the final of the World Cup a year later.
