Egyptian fencer Nada Hafez revealed that she competed seven months pregnant at the 2024 Olympic Games. “What appears to be two competitors is actually three. My opponent, me and my little baby,” she wrote on her social media.
Hafez beat American Elizabeth Tartakovsky 15-13 in the first round of the women’s individual sabre. She then fell 7-15 to South Korean Jeon Hayoung in the round of 16.

“With my baby we had our fair share of challenges, both physical and emotional. The roller coaster of being pregnant is hard on its own, but having to fight to maintain the balance between life and sports was exhausting, but worth it,” she added on her Instagram account.
