The story of the 2024 Ladies’ singles draw at Wimbledon has been one of attrition at the top. While two players seeded in the top 10 have reached the semifinals 2022 champion Elena Rybakina (No. 4 seed) and 2024 French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini (No. 7 seed) the favorites were bounced much earlier in the tournament. Top seed Iga Swiatek bowed out in the third round and No. 2 seed Coco Gauff lost in the fourth round.
Unseeded Donna Vekic is on the deepest Grand Slam singles run of her career after quarterfinal runs at the 2023 Australian Open and 2019 US Open, while No. 31 seed Barbora Krejcikova is looking to capture the magic she found at Roland Garros in 2021, when she won her first Grand Slam title on the red clay in Paris.
