(MONUMENT, Colo.) Palmer Ridge and Pueblo West hung onto leads in hard-fought victories in the CHSAA football playoffs on Friday night.
Palmer Ridge scored the first 13 points before avoiding a late upset by Mesa Ridge 19-16, advancing in Class 4A to take on Broomfield.
Pueblo West forced a safety that would, ultimately, make the difference in its 16-14 victory over Northfield. The Cyclones advance to take on Class 3As No. 1 Dakota Ridge next week.
Pine Creek lost a late lead to Mullen, falling 21-18 at D20 Stadium.
