Sports life in Detroit is good right now.

The Lions are great. The Pistons are great. And while that was true last season, it’s even more true right now.

Both teams are in first place, and the last time that happened, the Pistons played in Fort Wayne and the Lions didn’t wear face masks.

That’s because it was 71 years ago, in 1954.

Bad news out of the way first:

Good news is that something that happened in 1954 doesn’t actually have any bearing on what happens in 2025.

It’s just a good time to be a Detroit sports fan.

The Tigers were good this season, and the hope is that they don’t trade Tarik Skubal.

The Red Wings have a winning record right now, too.

The town wants a title. And it looks like someone might soon deliver it.
