Maximo Adams Commits to UNC: What the 6-7 forward brings to Hubert Davis Tar Heels

Hubert Davis lands his first commitment of the 2026 class with four-star Maximo Adams. The 6-foot-7 forward at Chatsworth (CA) Sierra Canyon ultimately chose the Tar Heels over a final group that also included Texas, Michigan State, and Kentucky.

Lets discuss what Maximo Adams is bringing to UNC.

Maximo Adams is a 6-foot-7 forward out of Chatsworth (CA) Sierra Canyon. He is currently Rivals No. 18 overall player and the No. 7-ranked small forward in the 2026 Rivals150. Rivals is a little higher than the industry with Adams as he is No. 20 in the Industry Ranking.

Adams is starting his senior season at Sierra Canyon. He played one Nike EYBL Session this summer with the Team WhyNot program, and then played the final four sessions with the Vegas Elite program. In total, Adams averaged 18.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. He shot 50.0 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from three on 4.9 attempts per game.

I think Im very versatile, Adams told Rivals. I can play multiple positions, shoot the three ball, get down in the post and play in the mid post as well. My rebounding has been really good, and my motor. Obviously, I can play multiple position, so one thing Im trying to work on is my guard skills. So ball handling, making plays for myself, and making plays my teammates.

Maximo Adams jumped to No. 18 in the recent 2026 Rivals150 update. A lot of his bump had to do with the combination of production and efficiency his game brings.

Seeing Adams at 6-foot-7, and his ability to consistently create advantages via dribbling, passing, or shooting is very intriguing. His shot is clean and he is comfortable stepping into it and hitting all his balance points. Adams has also shown a pull-up jump shot, getting to it off two and three dribbles in the half court.

While he is not the twitchiest of athletes, he has good feel for the game. He seems to oftentimes be in the right place to make a positive play for his team. He tracks rebounds well, reading the ball off the rim, and he uses leverage well to collect boards on the defensive glass.

Adams is a confident player, and while there may be some defensive questions, he is not afraid of getting in there and mixing it up. Adams has also done a good job stepping into a leadership role, being vocal.

Looking at some of the best UNC teams over the past couple of decades, which the specifics of the players might be different, they have all had quality combo forwards. Players who could be considered either jumbo wings or versatile forwards. Adams fits this mold of player.

Maximo Adams on UNC:

They like my versatility, Adams told Rivals. And that I could fit anywhere with how they play. I do know they hey just had a wing that was drafted, Drake Powell, so I kind of fit similar to him.

Adams on whats driving his decision:

Im looking for a brotherhood, Adams said. I want to go to a school where I trust the coach and have a good relationship with the coach. A school where I can just play and feel comfortable. I can fit into any type of playstyle, so I wont be looking as much at a style. I will look at their plan for me.
