Inter Milan Offer 20M for Lazio Defender Wanted at Bournemouth

Inter Milan are reportedly keen to recruit Mario Gila, whose future at Lazio is far from certain, especially with contract talks stalling.

The Spaniard has been on a steady rise since joining the Italian capital side in 2022. He has now established himself as one of the most reliable centre-backs in Serie A. However, his contract will expire in June 2027, and the club is unable to extend it due to the currently-imposed transfer ban.

Lazio are hoping to lift the ban in the coming months, but this wouldnt be enough to guarantee an imminent agreement with the 25-year-old and his entourage. After all, the Aquiles current struggles could convince the player to pursue greener pastures, especially with top suitors vying for his services.

According to Il Messaggero, Inter have expressed their desire to spend 20 million on Gila. However, Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani consider the offer too low, particularly since 50% of the transfer fee will be heading to Real Madrid.

Moreover, the source recalls how the players entourage had drawn a 35 million offer from Bournemouth last summer. Lazio could have considered selling the Barcelona native for that price and replacing him with Jan-Carlo Simic, but the aforementioned transfer ban prevented this manoeuvre.

Nevertheless, with 18 months left before the expiry of his contract, the Biancocelesti are beginning to lose their leverage on the players future, and this could force them to accept relatively low offers, even though Maurizio Sarri would be loath to lose the services of his most trusted defender.
