Boswell recounts recruiting efforts for Andrej Stojakovic

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) Illinois guard Kylan Boswell was one of the loudest voices in the ear of Andrej Stojakovic after he decided to transfer out of Cal.

I was probably bugging this kid, Boswell said.

Its clear why Boswell was so enthusiastic about trying to have Stojakovic join him in Champaign.

Andrej scored 23 points off the bench in a the ranked win over Texas Tech and made the game-saving block in the games final seconds.

Stojakovic undoubtedly had plenty of teams interested in his services when he decided to transfer, and he said the returning talent, plus Kylans persistence had a hand in his decision to transfer to Illinois.

Having Kylan on the team and knowing he was going to come back, a defender like Ty Rogers is going to come back, Tomi coming back. I knew that we were going to have such great potential on both sides of the floor. I feel very grateful for my decision.

This duos connection grew throughout the offseason as they trained together and visited Andrejs home country of Greece.

When I found out that we were interested in him, I immediately texted him, Boswell said. He was one of my favorite players that I was watching throughout the summer who we wanted, and then they told me that they want him so, big shout out to me for doing that, 100%, Boswell said with a laugh.
