Diamondbacks' Carroll to play for Team USA in 2026 World Baseball Classic

Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll is putting on the nation’s colors for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, representing Team USA in March next year.

The Diamondbacks posted the announcement of Carroll joining the U.S. on X late Monday night, Nov. 13, the same night on which the two-time All-Star outfielder was named to the All-Major League Baseball second team for the second time in his career.

The 2025 MLB Awards took place in Las Vegas, with Carroll in attendance.

Diamondbacks’ second baseman Ketel Marte, an All-Star in 2025 for the third time in his career, was named to the All-MLB first team, his second selection. The two-time Silver Slugger award winner as the National League’s best hitting second baseman ranked among 2025 NL leaders in OPS (fourth, .893), on-base percentage (fifth, .376) and slugging percentage (eighth, .517).

Carroll, who in 2025 became the 10th player to hit 30 or more home runs, 15 or more triples and 30 or more doubles, is set to don the red, white and blue for the first time in his career. He told an audience at the MLB Awards that he was watching football when Team USA manager Mark DeRosa called and invited Carroll to join the WBC squad.

“Couldn’t be more excited. It’s going to be awesome,” Carroll said.

Carroll joins MLB stars Cal Raleigh (Mariners), American League MVP Aaron Judge (Yankees), pitcher Paul Skenes (Pirates), Bobby Witt Jr. (Royals) and Pete Crow-Armstrong (Cubs) suiting up for the U.S. in 2026. Team USA will play in Pool B in Houston against Mexico, Great Britain, Brazil and Italy.

Introduced in 2019, the All-MLB awards are a comprehensive honor that cover the breadth of an entire season. The First and Second Team selections were determined by a combination of voting among fans and a panel of media members, broadcasters, former players and other officials throughout the game.
