The number 17 ranked Frogs picked up their third win of the season this past Wednesday with a 122-39 blowout win over Tennessee State in Fort Worth. The 83 point margin of victory is the largest in program history as the Frogs dominated for all four quarters against the Lady Tigers. TCUs offense was firing on all cylinders as five Frogs reached double digit points and TCU shot an absurd 63% from three on 27 attempts. Maddie Scherr was responsible for six of those made threes shooting 100% from beyond the arc on her way to 22 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Scherr has gained confidence in each game working back from a season ending injury suffered last year and her three point shooting and play making abilities will be important for TCU this season. Olivia Miles picked up her first double-double of the season with 17 points, 11 assists, two rebounds, and five steals. Miles continues to look more comfortable in Mark Campbells offense and did a great job of finding open teammates against Tennessee State. Marta Suarez continues to impress as she tallied 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Suarezs ability to score in different ways is unlocking a new dimension for Mark Campbells offense outside of the traditional high pick and roll. Donovyn Hunter continued her red hot start to the 2025 season with 16 points on four of six shooting from three. Taylor Bigby has consistently been a source of bench scoring and toughness and that continued against Tennessee Tech; she had ten points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals against the Lady Tigers. TCU did a great job of taking care of the basketball as well with only 12 turnovers as a team compared to 25 total assists.
TCU had an outstanding offensive performance but the defense was equally as impressive, holding Tennessee Tech to 28.1% shooting from the field and 18.8% shooting from three. The Frogs did a great job of cutting off passing lanes and pressuring ball handlers as Tennessee Tech turned the ball over 32 times as a team. Clara Silva and Kennedy Basham have both done a great job of anchoring the defense and protecting the rim as they had four and two blocks respectively on Wednesday. TCU did a great job of contesting shots without fouling as Tennessee Tech attempted just nine free throws as a team.
The Frogs came out of the gate hot with a 17-0 run over the first five minutes of the game. Tennessee State battled back before TCU went on an 8-0 run toward the end of the first quarter to take a 31-15 lead into the second quarter. TCUs defense settled in during the second quarter as the Frogs allowed just nine points and the lead grew to 35 points at halftime. The third quarter saw an even more dominant version of the TCU defense with the Lady Tigers managing just four points allowing TCU to take a 95-28 lead into the final ten minutes. The fourth quarter was more of the same as the Frogs closed out the game stress free.
TCU will next travel to Raleigh, North Carolina for a top 25 matchup against the number 10 ranked NC State Wolfpack on Sunday, November 16th at Noon.
