It’s been a promising year for the Philadelphia 76ers, as they’ve received contributions from multiple players who weren’t expected to be the players they currently are.
However, it’s still tough to ignore the injuries in some sense, especially with Joel Embiid, Paul George, and youngster Jared McCain.
McCain is the more interesting of the bunch, as everybody already knows what Embiid and George are at this stage of their careers. McCain is one of the best players in the world when he plays, and George was the top 10 player in the NBA just two years ago.

McCain showed some promising signs a year ago, but has also dealt with a few injuries. With the emergence of V.J. Edgecombe, however, some believe he could be dealt, including Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley, who proposed a deal to send him to the Houston Rockets for Tari Eason.
The Sixers have seemingly already formed a top-shelf backcourt combo with Tyrese Maxey and rookie VJ Edgecombe, and, on a per-minute basis, Joel Embiid still has centerpiece talent. Things get a little wobbly at the forward spot, though, which could steer Philly toward testing Houston’s resolve on keeping Eason.
If the Rockets aren’t fully prepared to pay the versatile forward next summer, maybe there’s a deal to be made, he wrote.
Eason would be a nice player to have for the 76ers, but it’s also fair to remember what McCain did during his rookie season before being injured.
There was an obvious fit next to Embiid, despite Embiid being injured throughout the year.
If they can both return for the 76ers in the near future, things should be on the rise.
