Were barely two weeks into the off-season, but the St. Louis Cardinals are already coming up in several trade rumors involving Brendan Donovan and the expected market for future Hall of Famer, Nolan Arenado. Heres what we know so far along with other rumblings from around baseball:
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch shared on X that Brendan Donovan is receiving trade interest from the Kansas City Royals. Derrick mentions that KC may be willing to part with starting pitching to make that happen. MLB Trade Rumors says the Cleveland Guardians are also high on Donovan.
ESPN reporting that St. Louis Cardinals President of Baseball Operations said We all feel its best to find a different fitWere on the same page with Nolan, in regards to Arenado being moved to a new team during the off-season. They mentioned sources around the league that think finding an everyday role might be a challenge for Nolan which might limit teams that would get involved.
Cardinals are listening to offers on Sonny Gray according to ESPN. The Sporting News believes the Atlanta Braves are a likely landing spot. Yahoo Sports says there is interest in Gray from the New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles.
In other news from around the league, Los Angeles Dodgers Shohei Ohtani was a unanimous winner of the NL MVP award today. Philadelphia Phillies Kyle Schwarber was second and New York Mets Juan Soto came in third in the voting. Aaron Judge won the AL MVP award barely edging out Seattle Mariners Cal Raleigh. Cleveland Guardians Jose Ramirez came in third in the voting.
Detroit Tigers Tarik Skubal won the Cy Young award in the American League. Pittsburgh Pirates Paul Skenes was the unanimous Cy Young award winner for the NL.
