Nebraska tight end Luke Lindenmeyer had the Saturday night of his life in Week 2.
Lindenmeyer scored the first touchdown of his career in the Cornhuskers blowout win over Akron. The redshirt junior caught a 10-yard TD pass from QB Dominic Raiola in the second quarter to give the Huskers a 33-0 lead.
Lindenmeyer had even bigger plans after the game. Once the 68-0 victory was over, he proposed to his girlfriend Kailyn Storovich, a member of Nebraskas dance team.
Storovich said yes.
Lindenmeyer teased his actions earlier in the week. Before the game, he said (via the Lincoln Journal Star) that he had something a little special planned after and talked about what happened on the field following the game.
I didnt really tell the whole team I just told a couple of guys, Lindenmeyer said. And then Coach [Matt] Rhule said something about it yesterday and the whole team they were just standing there. It was just awesome. Her family was there too. It was great.
Rhule said that Lindemeyer had approached him leading up to the game to make sure that proposing after the game would be OK.
Oh yeah, he had asked ahead of time. Not asked, but hey do you care if I do this after game. He didnt ask for my permission, I think he probably asked her dad that,” Rhule said in his postgame news conference. ” once the game was in hand, it was really important for me that his teammates were there.
Lindenmeyer said he wanted to meet Storovich after seeing her on the field a season ago. That helped make his proposal site an easy decision.
The field, thats where I first saw her, thats when I first saw her face. And then got to meet her at church and just getting to know her I fell in love with her.
Lindenmeyer walked on to the Huskers in 2022 and redshirted in his first year on campus. Since then, hes appeared in every game and started seven games in 2023 and 2024. So far in 2025, he has eight catches for 91 yards.
