Penn State leaving Nike for Adidas in 2026

Penn States longtime association with Nike is ending in 2026.

The school announced Friday that it was signing a 10-year deal with Adidas to be its official athletic department apparel partner. Penn State had been a Nike school since 1993 and according to On3, the Adidas deal will be the companys biggest college agreement. It begins on July 1.

In the release, Penn State touted that former Nittany Lions Micah Parsons and Abdul Carter had individual deals with Adidas. Parsons was recently traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers in the biggest story of the 2025 NFL offseason and Carter was the No. 3 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.

Nike remains the biggest player in college athletics, though the Penn State announcement is Adidas second big deal of the year. Earlier this summer, Tennessee announced that it was signing a 10-year deal with Adidas. UT had been with Nike since leaving Adidas after the 2014 season.

Even though its lost Tennessee and Penn State recently, Nike has gained both Auburn and South Carolina. The two schools announced earlier this year that they were leaving Under Armour next season.
