Jakobi Meyers and the Las Vegas Raiders dont appear to be any closer to reaching a new deal with the regular season just days away from kicking off.
The wide receiver is set to enter the final year of his deal with the franchise this fall, and hes been angling for a new contract the entire offseason. The goal was to ink a new contract before their season-opener against the New England Patriots on Sunday, but it doesnt appear that is going to happen.

Meyers has one year left on a three-year, $33 million deal, and he is set to become a free agent in 2026 if he doesnt reach an extension with the team. He officially requested a trade late last month, but the team has denied that. After he made his trade request, the Raiders actually struck a one-year deal with free agent wide receiver Amari Cooper, too.
Meyers was the teams leading wide receiver last season, and should be again this fall under new head coach Pete Carroll. The 28-year-old had a career-high 1,027 yards and four touchdowns on 87 catches. The team went just 4-13, however, and missed the playoffs for a third straight campaign.
Though the team struggled across the board, Meyers felt he had done more than necessary to warrant an extension this offseason.
While there was a trade request made, and the Raiders are just days away from their season-opener, its clear to Meyers that things have completely stalled out on both sides.
Talks could easily heat up again in the coming weeks, especially if Meyers and the Raiders get off to a strong start. If thats the case, Meyers said hed still be open to a new deal. Until then, though, he’ll keep waiting.
