Sabres Should Swing Trade For Surging Blackhawks Forward

The Buffalo Sabres currently have an 11-11-2 record and have lost three straight games. Given that they are looking to break their 13-year playoff drought, we could see them make a move soon to improve their roster.

It is clear that the Sabres could use more secondary scoring, so one player who they should consider taking a shot on is Chicago Blackhawks forward Ryan Donato.

Donato, 28, is currently having an excellent season with the Blackhawks. He leads the Central Division club with 10 goals and is second in points with 15 in 23 games. With numbers like these, the 2014 second-round pick could be a great addition for a Sabres club looking for more offense.

If the Sabres acquired Donato, he would provide them with another option for their middle six and would work on their power play. In addition, he offers great versatility, as he can play both center and on the wing.

Donato is also a pending unrestricted free agent, so he could end up being made available once we get closer to the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. If he is, the Sabres should seriously consider pursuing the skilled forward.
