The hockey player on the top of PSA’s most-graded hockey players of 2024 list had 58,976 submissions. Spots two through nine combined for 69,136 submissions.
Of the 128,112 grading submissions for players on PSA’s top-10 list of most graded hockey players of 2024; 34,775 of the submissions were legends, and the remaining are active players.
Connor McDavid has just two questions to be answered about his storied career. Will he win a Stanley Cup? Can he overtake Jaromir Jagr’s career total of 1,921 points?
The latter is easier to answer, McDavid was the fourth fastest to reach 1,000 career points. Health pending, McDavid should finish his career as of two players to eclipse 2,000 career points.
As far as winning a Stanley Cup? Only time will tell. McDavid has plenty of motivation to win a Stanley Cup. We all saw that emotional moment recorded just minutes after the Florida Panthers won the 2024 Stanley Cup.
McDavid remains a solid investment as he is already in the NHL’s top-100 career points earners.
McDavid hopes to give Gretzky company on the NHL’s list of players to score 2,000 points. Gretzky is alone on that list. McDavid also hopes to win a few Stanley Cups, just like Gretzky did.
Stop and think for a moment. Where are all these Gretzky PSA grading submissions coming from? Shoe boxes, card binders, office displays, screw card holders, and bicycle spokes?
As mentioned in part-one of this series, every card has a story. Imagine the stories some of Gretzky’s cards could tell.
Connor Bedard dominated the list with 46% of the submissions. There is clearly a Bedard overload. Bedard has brought hockey cards into the mainstream.
Time will tell if the nearly 60,000 PSA grading submissions were a good investment. Bedard has the raw talent to become one of the top players in the NHL. Playing for an original-six team in one of hockey’s best markets will only help.
The Chicago Blackhawks will do their part in marketing Bedard to the world. Can Bedard lead the Blackhawks back to Stanley Cup contention like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. Will Bedard start stringing 100 points seasons like McDavid?
People have 58,976 reasons to hope so.
Happy hunting and collecting!
