Penguins’ Crosby Climbs Another NHL Scoring List

In the 5-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, Nov. 27, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby picked up two assists.

According to NHL Public Relations, those helpers gave Crosby over 80 regular-season points in the calendar year, making 2024 the 13th time he’s registered that many points in 365 days.

He moves into third place all-time in NHL history for most years with 80 regular-season points, surpassing Hall of Famer Mark Messier and soon-to-be the game’s greatest goal scorer, Alex Ovechkin.

Considering Crosby has signed to remain with the Penguins until July 1, 2027, there’s a chance he catches another Hall of Famer, Marcel Dionne, who sits second all-time with 15 years of 80 or more points.

Naturally, Wayne Gretzky remains at the top of the list with 16 years, which means Crosby would need to play at the beginning of the 2027-28 season if he wanted to catch The Great One.
