The Mets added to their outfield depth on Monday, acquiring Jose Siri in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
In exchange, he Mets are sending 27-year-old right-hander Eric Orze to Tampa.
Siri, 29, has played parts of four seasons in the majors, posting a career slash line of .210/.266/.408 with 54 home runs, 136 RBI, and 43 stolen bases. Siris breakout season came in 2023, when he belted 25 home runs and had an OPS+ of 105. He had a down year in 2024, posting an OPS+ of 76 to go along with 18 home runs.
Siri is arbitration eligible and under team control through the 2027 season.
The right-handed hitter has primarily played center field over the past three seasons, but also has experience in the corner outfield spots. With Harrison Bader a free agent and Tyrone Taylor eligible for arbitration, Siri gives the Mets some added insurance in center field.
