Which French players will make the trip to the 2026 World Cup?
Yesterday, France secured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup and Didier Deschamps will announce his final squad around mid-May 2026. With the roster limited to 26 players, some names are already certain to feature. In goal, Mike Maignan has established himself as the first-choice keeper. Lucas Chevalier is the natural understudy, while Brice Samba rounds out the trio. Alphonse Areola remains an option in case of injury.
On the right side of defense, Jules Koundé is a fixture, with Malo Gusto the favorite to fill the flank. In central defense, Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba, and Ibrahima Konaté are guaranteed selections, while the final spot is expected to be contested between Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard. On the left, Lucas Digne and Théo Hernandez are the main contenders.
In midfield, Manu Koné has emerged as a key presence alongside Aurélien Tchouaméni, Adrien Rabiot, and Eduardo Camavinga. Warren Zaïre-Emery could also complete the midfield unit. In attack, captain Kylian Mbappé is, of course, a guaranteed pick. Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise, Marcus Thuram, and Bradley Barcola also look almost certain to travel.
