Two-time U.S. Open champion Venus Williams returns to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, NY as a wild card this year, and her first singles match of the tournament, against No. 11 seed Karolina Muchova on Monday, Aug. 25..
Following a 16-month absence from the tour, which resulted in speculation of her retirement, Williams burst back onto the scene this summer, winning against Peyton Stearns at the Mubadala Citi DC Open. After this summer’s performance where, at 45, she’s been the oldest player to win a WTA match in over two decades there’s been renewed interest in the seven-time singles champion.
